The British Guiana 1c Magenta is a one-cent postage stamp printed in 1856 by a local newspaper in British Guiana (now Guyana) due to a shortage of regular stamps. It is the only surviving copy of this temporary printing and has been sold at record-breaking sums, including $9.5 million in 2014. The stamp's value lies not only in its monetary worth but also in its historical significance as a symbol of legacy, mystery, and the power of small objects to carry significant meaning.
