Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Peakd (peakd.io), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Peakd is a trading name of Peakd Labs Ltd (Company No. 17331702), registered in England & Wales. Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. “Peakd”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Peakd Labs Ltd.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Peakd. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the platform. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
3. Description of Service
Peakd is a community-voted ranking platform. Users can browse rankings, vote on products/services/entities, submit new entries, and compare items across categories.
Rankings and content may be personalised based on your country. We detect your approximate location via your IP address (country-level only, via Cloudflare) to show you relevant results first. You can change your country preference at any time via the footer or your profile settings. No precise geolocation is collected or stored — only a 2-letter country code.
4. User Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. One account per person — multiple accounts will be terminated.
5. Voting & Reviews
Votes and reviews must reflect genuine opinion based on real experience. Vote manipulation, fake reviews, brigading, or automated voting is strictly prohibited and will result in account termination.
Your individual votes are not displayed on entity pages — only aggregated scores are shown. However, your rating history (which entities you rated and the scores you gave) is visible on your public profile and activity timeline. To hide your voting activity entirely, enable private profile mode in Settings. We retain vote data internally for fraud detection and ranking integrity regardless of profile visibility.
5a. User Content: Licence & Responsibility
By submitting any content to Peakd (including votes, ratings, comments, submissions, lists, polls, and suggested edits), you:
- Grant Peakd a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and create derivative works from your content in connection with operating and promoting the platform.
- Acknowledge that you are solely responsible for all content you submit. Peakd does not pre-screen content and takes no responsibility for any user-submitted material.
- Represent that your content does not infringe any third-party rights, is not defamatory, and complies with all applicable laws.
- Acknowledge that Peakd reserves the right to remove, edit, or refuse any content at its sole discretion, without notice or liability.
5b. Rankings & Scores
Rankings are generated automatically from community votes. Peakd does not guarantee the accuracy of rankings. Rankings represent aggregated community opinion, not editorial endorsement.
6. Opinion Disclaimer & Defamation Shield
Peakd hosts community-generated ratings and commentary across all domains, including rankings of products, services, organisations, and public institutions. By using this platform, you acknowledge:
- All rankings, ratings, and scores represent aggregated community opinion, not statements of fact. A low score is not an assertion of incompetence, wrongdoing, or deficiency.
- Peakd does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any individual rating or comment. We are a neutral platform for community expression.
- Rankings of companies, institutions, and services constitute protected commentary and opinion under applicable free speech and fair comment laws.
- Users who submit ratings or comments represent that their contributions reflect genuine personal opinion or experience. Deliberately false, malicious, or defamatory content is prohibited and will be removed.
- Peakd is not the publisher of user-generated content. Under applicable intermediary liability protections (including Section 230 CDA (US), E-Commerce Directive Article 14 (EU), and Defamation Act 2013 Section 5 (UK)), we are not liable for content posted by users.
- Images displayed on entity pages are sourced from public APIs and open data services (including Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, GitHub, Unavatar, Hunter.io, and Wikidata), uploaded by users, or uploaded by verified page representatives. Image sources are attributed per-entity in the "Sources" section of each page. Images are cached on our CDN for performance and resilience. If an image is used without authorisation, copyright holders may submit a takedown request via our DMCA policy.
- Entity profiles for organisations and products are created from publicly available information for the purpose of community commentary and comparative evaluation — a protected activity under free speech principles in all major jurisdictions.
- Any organisation that is the subject of an entity page may request correction or removal via our removal policy. We acknowledge all valid requests within 48 hours and aim to resolve within 14 business days.
- Removal of an entity page does not guarantee that the same or a similar page will not be re-created by another user in the future. Peakd is a community platform and we cannot prevent future submissions. However, repeated removals of the same subject will result in that entity being permanently blocked from re-submission.
6. Company Pages
Companies may claim their entity page. Claiming grants management access — not ownership of the listing. All claims include a one-time 14-day Pro trial (one trial per account, no credit card required). After the trial, Pro features require an active subscription (£99/month). Basic claim features (editing, replying) remain free indefinitely. Claimed pages can:
- Edit their description, tagline, links, images, and pricing information
- Add products, services, and special offers (with images, pricing, discount codes, and links) displayed publicly on their page
- Add a custom call-to-action button linking to their website (e.g. “Book a demo”, “Get pricing”)
- Respond to community comments and discussions
- Access analytics (views, comparisons, category rankings)
- Embed a Peakd rating badge on their own website
Companies cannot remove, suppress, hide, or alter rankings, community votes, or user-submitted ratings. Rankings are determined solely by community opinion.
Entity pages for companies and products may be created by any user or by automated data sources without the company's consent or involvement. A company does not need to be aware of or approve its listing on Peakd. Requesting removal of a company or product page will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but removal is not guaranteed as public entities are generally eligible for community ranking. Removal does not prevent re-creation by other users.
Unclaimed pages are community-maintained. Any registered user may suggest edits (descriptions, images, links, categories) which are subject to community review. Peakd does not guarantee the accuracy of information on unclaimed pages. If you represent an entity listed on Peakd, you may claim the page to take editorial control of its factual information.
6b. Automated Data Collection
Peakd uses automated tools and software (the “Pipeline”) to collect, enrich, and maintain entity data from publicly available sources including but not limited to:
- Public websites and their publicly accessible metadata
- Public APIs (Wikipedia/Wikimedia, Wikidata) and official entity websites
- Open data sources and government registries
- Publicly accessible company pages, pricing pages, and documentation
This automated collection is limited to publicly available factual information about organisations, products, services, and other non-personal entities. We act in good faith and do not circumvent access controls, authentication systems, or robots.txt directives that explicitly prohibit indexing.
By using Peakd, you acknowledge that entity data may be sourced from third-party public sources and that Peakd does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of automatically collected information. Some descriptions, taglines, and categorisations are generated or improved using AI (large language models) and may occasionally contain errors, outdated information, or misclassifications. If you identify inaccurate data, you may correct it via the Suggest Edit feature, the Claim process, or by contacting us.
Peakd will respond to legitimate correction requests within 48 hours and removal requests in accordance with our removal policy.
7. Intellectual Property & Trademarks
The Peakd name, logo, visual design, and all proprietary software are the intellectual property of Peakd Labs Ltd. You may not use our trademarks, trade names, or branding without prior written permission.
- “Peakd” and the Peakd logo are unregistered trademarks of Peakd Labs Ltd.
- The platform source code, ranking algorithms, database structure, and design are copyright © 2026 Peakd Labs Ltd.
- User-generated content (votes, comments, submissions, edits) remains the intellectual property of the user who created it, subject to the licence granted in Section 5a above.
- Entity data (names, descriptions, images sourced from public APIs) is factual information and not owned by any party.
- All third-party trademarks, logos, brand names, and product names displayed on Peakd are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on this platform does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship of Peakd. They are used solely for identification and informational purposes.
8. Limited Licence to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use Peakd for personal, non-commercial purposes (or commercial purposes if you have a paid subscription). This licence does not include:
- Scraping, crawling, or bulk downloading of data (see Section 9: Bots)
- Reproducing or redistributing rankings, scores, or aggregated data without attribution
- Using the platform to build a competing product or service
- Sub-licensing access to third parties
This licence terminates automatically if you violate these terms or if your account is suspended or deleted.
9. Privacy & Data
Your use of Peakd is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using Peakd, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Advertising & Promotions
Peakd offers paid promotional placements on category pages. By purchasing a promotion, you agree to the following:
- Payment is taken at time of ad creation. After payment, your ad is submitted for review. Ads typically go live within 48 hours of approval.
- If your ad is rejected, you may edit and resubmit for free. If you cannot meet our content standards, contact us for a refund.
- Ads must be truthful, non-misleading, and comply with all applicable advertising standards and laws.
- All ads are clearly labelled "Ad" and are visually distinct from organic rankings.
- Promotions do not influence organic rankings in any way. Paid placement cannot buy a higher rank position.
- Prohibited ad content: illegal products/services, adult content, weapons, gambling (unless licensed), hate speech, malware, deceptive claims, or impersonation of other brands.
- Peakd reserves the right to reject, pause, or remove any ad at our sole discretion without refund if it violates these terms.
- View credits are non-refundable once the ad is live and serving impressions. Unused credits do not expire but may not be transferred.
- You are responsible for the content of your ads, including images and destination URLs. Ads linking to malicious or deceptive sites will be removed immediately without refund.
- Once an ad is in review or live, it cannot be edited or deleted by the user. Contact support for changes to live ads.
- Repeated policy violations or evidence of bad faith will result in permanent account suspension and forfeiture of all remaining credits without refund.
- Pricing is subject to change. Existing purchased credits are honoured at the rate paid.
- Advertisers may optionally target their ads to specific countries. Geo-targeting uses anonymous country-level detection (Cloudflare) only — no personal user data is shared with advertisers. If geo-targeting is set, view credits are only consumed when the ad is shown to a visitor from a matching country.
8. Prohibited Conduct & Community Guidelines
The following behaviours are prohibited and may be reported by any user. Reports are reviewed by moderators and may result in content removal, warnings, suspension, or permanent ban.
Spam
- Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content posted to inflate visibility.
- Unsolicited links to external products or services unrelated to the discussion.
- Submitting the same entity, comment, or vote repeatedly.
- Creating entities solely to promote a product without genuine community value.
Inappropriate Content
- Explicit sexual content outside of clearly marked mature categories.
- Graphic violence, gore, or disturbing imagery.
- Content that violates the dignity of individuals or groups.
- Profanity or vulgarity used to attack rather than express opinion.
Misinformation
- Deliberately false claims presented as fact (e.g. fabricated pricing, fake features, false company status).
- Ratings or reviews based on fabricated experience (never used the product/service).
- Impersonating official sources or falsely claiming expertise.
- Note: genuine negative opinions and low ratings are not misinformation — they are protected expression.
Harassment
- Targeted abuse, threats, or intimidation directed at another user.
- Doxxing (sharing personal information without consent).
- Sustained unwanted contact or following after being blocked.
- Hate speech targeting race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or nationality.
- Coordinated campaigns to manipulate scores or harass individuals.
Vote Manipulation
- Using multiple accounts to inflate or deflate scores.
- Offering incentives (money, gifts) in exchange for votes.
- Coordinated brigading from external communities.
- Automated tools or bots to cast votes.
If you encounter any of the above, use the report button (flag icon) on the relevant content. All reports are anonymous to the reported user.
9. Bots & Automation
Third-party bots, scrapers, and automated accounts are not permitted. This includes tools that vote, comment, submit content, or scrape data without authorisation. Violation results in immediate ban and potential legal action.
Peakd operates its own internal moderation bots for data quality purposes (e.g. verifying categories, sourcing images, detecting duplicates). These are clearly identified as "Peakd Bot" and their changes are logged in each entity's edit history for full transparency.
9. Termination & Account Bans
We may suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time. Grounds for immediate ban include:
- Vote manipulation, brigading, or use of automated tools to influence rankings.
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or inflate activity.
- Harassment, hate speech, threats, or doxxing of other users.
- Posting illegal content or using the platform for illegal purposes.
- Impersonating other users, companies, or public figures.
- Sustained bad faith behaviour (repeated false reports, spam, or trolling).
Banned accounts lose access to all platform features. Any purchased credits, claimed profiles, or subscriptions are forfeited without refund. Ban decisions are final, though you may appeal once via email.
10. Limitation of Liability
Peakd is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free access to the platform.
- We are not liable for any decisions made based on rankings, reviews, or data on this platform.
- We are not liable for loss of data, revenue, business, or profits arising from use of the service.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months prior to the claim.
Service Availability
We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage (no SLA). The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
Paid Services During Outages
- Promotion view credits are not consumed during periods when the platform is inaccessible. If a significant outage occurs (24+ hours), affected advertisers may request credit extension at our discretion.
- Subscription billing continues during outages. If an outage exceeds 72 continuous hours, subscribers may request a pro-rata credit for the affected period.
- We are not liable for indirect losses caused by downtime, including missed advertising exposure or ranking changes during the outage period.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Peakd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Peakd, its operator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the platform, (b) content you submit, (c) your violation of these terms, or (d) your infringement of any third-party rights. This indemnification survives termination of your account.
13. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, government actions, internet or infrastructure failures, third-party service outages (hosting, payment processors, DNS), cyberattacks, pandemics, or regulatory changes.
14. Compliance with Legal Process
We may disclose user information (including account details, IP addresses, and content) when required by valid legal process, including court orders, subpoenas, or law enforcement requests. Where legally permitted, we will notify affected users before disclosure.
We cooperate with law enforcement in investigating unlawful activity. We will remove content when required by a valid court order. Fraudulent legal threats (fake court orders, impersonation of authorities) will be reported to the relevant authorities.
15. Dispute Resolution
Before initiating any legal proceedings, you agree to first contact us via our contact form and allow 30 days for informal resolution. Most disputes can be resolved through direct communication.
For claims under £10,000, disputes shall be resolved through the UK Small Claims Court. For claims exceeding £10,000, the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction (subject to mandatory local consumer rights as outlined below).
15. Governing Law & International Users
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
For users outside the UK:
- EU/EEA residents: Nothing in these terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence (including GDPR). You may bring proceedings in your local courts.
- US residents: You agree to resolve disputes through individual proceedings only (no class actions). California residents retain rights under CCPA/CPRA.
- All other jurisdictions: If any provision is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary. The remainder of these terms continues in full force.
- Australian residents: Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010). Peakd is a ranking platform, not a social media service, and is not subject to the Social Media Minimum Age Act. Our minimum age remains 13.
- New Zealand residents: Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Privacy Act 2020 are not affected by these terms.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, DMCA Policy, and any specific terms for paid services, constitute the entire agreement between you and Peakd. No prior communications, representations, or agreements (whether oral or written) shall override these terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be severed without affecting the remainder.
