CBGB is a historic music club located in the Bowery neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It was founded in 1973 by Hilly Kristal and became a prominent venue for punk rock music and counterculture events. The club played host to numerous influential bands and artists during its active years from 1973 to 2006, including The Ramones, Blondie, and Talking Heads. CBGB is widely regarded as the birthplace of punk rock in New York City.
