The Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) is a US government entity established in 2010 by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. It provides comprehensive monitoring of the stability of the nation's financial system, identifying risks and promoting market discipline. The FSOC consists of 10 voting members and 5 nonvoting members, including federal financial regulators, state regulators, and an independent insurance expert appointed by the President.
