The General Assembly is the main policy-making organ of the United Nations, comprising all Member States and providing a forum for multilateral discussion on international issues. Each member state has an equal vote, and it makes key decisions for the UN, including appointing the Secretary-General and electing non-permanent members of the Security Council. The General Assembly meets in regular sessions from September to December each year and discusses specific issues through dedicated agenda items or sub-items.
