The International Space Station (ISS) is a habitable artificial satellite in low Earth orbit where astronauts conduct scientific research, perform spacewalks, and test technologies for future deep space missions. The ISS orbits the Earth at an altitude of approximately 250 miles and has been continuously occupied by humans since November 2000. It serves as a unique platform for scientists to study microgravity, space weather, and other phenomena that cannot be replicated on Earth.
