The Marine National Monument of Papahānaumokuākea is a marine protected area located in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, established to preserve and protect its unique natural and cultural resources. It covers an area of approximately 582,578 square kilometers, making it one of the largest marine protected areas in the world. The monument was designated by President George W. Bush on June 15, 2006, under the Antiquities Act, and is managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
