NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory is a space telescope that observes the universe in X-ray wavelengths, allowing scientists to study high-energy phenomena such as black holes, neutron stars, and galaxy clusters. Launched in 1999, it has been orbiting Earth and conducting observations for over two decades. The observatory is named after Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, an Indian-American astrophysicist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1983.
