OpenSocial is a set of technical standards and APIs that facilitate access to social functionality as part of the Open Web Platform. It defines a standard set of Social Network APIs, including profiles, relationships, activities, shared applications, authentication, and authorization. The OpenSocial Foundation hosts two active projects at Apache Software Foundation: Apache Shindig and Apache Rave, which serve as reference implementations for OpenSocial technology.
