Space Shuttle Enterprise (OV-101)

The Space Shuttle Enterprise (OV-101) is a retired NASA spaceplane that was used for atmospheric flight tests in the late 1970s. It was the first Space Shuttle prototype and was not designed to carry crew or payload into orbit. The Enterprise was built by Rockwell International and made its maiden flight in 1977, conducting a series of glide flights and approach-and-landing tests before being retired from service in 1985.
