STANAVFORLANT (Standing Naval Forces Atlantic) is a NATO standing maritime Immediate Reaction Force established in January 1968, consisting of destroyers, frigates, and tankers from various countries. It is under the operational command of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic and can rapidly respond to crises in the Atlantic region. The force has participated in numerous exercises and operations, including enforcing sanctions against former-Yugoslavia republics.
