Y Combinator provides a small amount of seed funding for startups. We work with startups on their ideas and help founders deal with investors and acquirers. We fund four batches of companies each year. Companies apply for the program by filling out an application form. Y Combinator is occasionally described as a boot camp or accelerator, but this is not really accurate. We probably get called that because we fund a lot of startups at once, and most have to move to participate. But the similarities end there; the atmosphere is the opposite of regimented. Y Combinator created a new model for funding early stage startups. Four times a year we invest in a large number of startups.
